Welcome to the Museum of the History of Science collections’ live search page. The database holds information about and photos of objects in the collection. There are approx 16928 museum object records available online.

This version of our online database was launched in July 2008 and is currently in 'beta'. Further details can be found on the help page. If you have any comments, please email webmaster@mhs.ox.ac.uk.

Basic Search | Advanced Search | Field Search

There are a number of different ways to search the collections database:

• The basic search is a simple keyword search of the key fields in the museum’s collections database.
• The advanced search is similar to the basic search but allows for more complex queries.
• The field search allows searches which are targetted on one or more of the key database fields.

The collections database excludes records of books held in the library: for these, see the library catalogue.
